Pennsylvania WWTP sets a new standard in wastewater management by combining Moleaer nanobubble technology with SENTRY’s real-time wastewater quality monitoring sensors to improve treatment processes & effluent outcomes while reducing costs & energy use
PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND, CA (Feb 19, 2025) –
Today, real-time wastewater quality monitoring pioneer, SENTRY Water Monitoring and Control (SENTRY™), and global nanobubble technology leader, Moleaer Inc., announced they successfully joined forces to help a Pennsylvania wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) overcome ongoing intermittent toxicity challenges. Prior to the two companies combining their solutions, the utility suffered a series of repeat treatment challenges due to influent variability from a diverse industrial community.

"SENTRY's unique real-time wastewater monitoring sensor platform has revealed the transformative impact of Moleaer nanobubbles on treatment performance and stability," says Baji Gobburi, Moleaer's Vice President of Wastewater. "Together, our solutions are helping treatment plants overcome critical challenges – from managing toxicity events to expanding treatment capacity and meeting nutrient regulations – more effectively and sustainably than ever before."
“We’re honoured to be working with another industry leader in the wastewater treatment industry who sees the benefit of having minute-by-minute snapshots of what’s coming into a WWTP,” added SENTRY Founder and CEO, Patrick Kiely. “Our robust, biological sensors placed in plant locations never possible before provide the earliest influent insight allowing solution partners like Moleaer to optimize their technology and add further value to their municipal customers. Together, we help these WWTPs optimize their treatment processes, ensure stable, high-quality effluent to avoid compliance violations, and save money and energy along the way.”
The combined solution includes SENTRY low maintenance, calibration-free “living” sensors placed at the Pennsylvania plant’s influent to detect periodic toxicity events in real time (represented by a drop in signal as shown in the blue graph line in the screenshot above). When detected, Moleaer nanobubbles then step in to actively sequester and reduce the toxic compounds resulting in stable organic loading signals once again (shown in green in the graph).
Additional WWTP installation details and results will be available soon. In the meantime, SENTRY and Moleaer are working to address WWTP treatment challenges and ongoing water quality issues affecting communities around the world.
About SENTRY Water Monitoring & Control (SENTRY)
SENTRY has developed the first and only real-time biological activity and water quality monitoring platform that provides minute-by-minute snapshots of the quality and treatability of wastewater at locations never possible before. From variable, untreated wastewater influent at a treatment plant’s headworks to biomass health changes in anaerobic digesters (AD), the company’s robust biofilm-based sensors provide early-on, always-on insights into biological processes that exist wherever water is used, stored, or treated. This means SENTRY’s municipal, industrial, and standalone AD customers around the world now have the data they need – when they need it - to optimize treatment and improve outcomes.
